Who we are
This site is operated by Michael Rathjen for Clay County School Board, District 4 (“the Campaign,” “we,” “us”). For questions about this policy, contact us at [email protected].
Information we collect
Information you give us directly
- Contact & signup forms: name, email address, mobile number, ZIP code, and any message you send.
- Yard-sign requests: name, mailing/delivery address, mobile number, and any drop-off instructions.
- Volunteer signups: name, contact info, and the activities you’d like to help with.
- Contributions: name, address, employer, occupation, contribution amount, and payment details. Florida law requires us to collect this information from anyone making a political contribution.
- Communications: if you email, call, text, or message the Campaign, we may keep a record of that communication.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the site, our hosting platform and analytics tools automatically collect routine technical information, including IP address, browser type and version, device type, referring URL, pages viewed, time on page, and approximate geographic location (city/region).
Cookies & tracking technologies
We use cookies (small files stored in your browser) and similar technologies for three purposes: keeping the site working (essential cookies you can’t turn off), measuring how people use the site (analytics), and showing the Campaign’s content to relevant audiences on other platforms (advertising). You can control cookies in your browser settings. Disabling them may affect site functionality.
Third-party services we use
This site uses the following third-party services. Each service has its own privacy policy and may collect information independently. Review their policies for details on how they handle your data.
- WordPress. The site is built on WordPress. Standard server logs may record IP address, user-agent, and request times. Privacy policy
- Our web host. Hosting provider stores site files and runs the database. Operational logs may include IP and request data. [Add link to your host’s privacy policy.]
- Google Analytics 4. Aggregated, pseudonymized analytics about pages viewed, sessions, and conversions. We use IP anonymization where available. Google privacy policy
- Google Fonts. The site’s typefaces (Oswald, Inter) are served from Google’s font CDN, which may receive your IP address as part of normal browser requests. Fonts privacy FAQ
- Google reCAPTCHA. Used on forms to block automated spam submissions. reCAPTCHA collects hardware/software information and sends it to Google for analysis. Google privacy policy
- Meta (Facebook) Pixel. Tracks visits and form completions so we can show campaign content to similar audiences on Facebook and Instagram. May set cookies and share an event/conversion record with Meta. Meta privacy policy
- Brevo (email marketing). If you sign up for updates, your email and any profile information are stored in Brevo so we can send you campaign updates and event notices. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email. Brevo privacy policy
- Form plugin. Contact, volunteer, yard-sign, and “Ask Michael” forms are processed by our forms plugin and stored in our WordPress database for follow-up. [Replace with your plugin, e.g., Gravity Forms, Fluent Forms, WPForms, and link to their privacy policy.]
- Donation processor. Contributions are processed by our payment provider. Your full payment-card number is sent directly to the processor and is not stored on our servers. [Replace with your processor, e.g., Anedot, Stripe, WinRed alternative, and link to their privacy policy.]
- CRM / outreach platform. Supporter records may be synced from this site into our voter-contact and email-marketing systems for canvassing, calls, and mailings. [List any CRM (e.g., Klaviyo, ActionNetwork, NGP VAN) and link to its privacy policy.]
How we use your information
- To respond to your messages, questions, and requests.
- To send you campaign updates, event invitations, and volunteer opportunities (if you’ve opted in).
- To process and acknowledge campaign contributions, and to comply with Florida campaign-finance reporting.
- To operate, secure, and improve the site.
- To measure the reach of our outreach and to share campaign content with relevant audiences on other platforms.
How we share your information
- Florida campaign-finance disclosure. The Campaign is required by Florida law to report the name, address, occupation, and employer of every contributor to the Clay County Supervisor of Elections. That information becomes part of the public record.
- Service providers. We share information with the third-party services listed above only to the extent needed to run the site and the campaign.
- Volunteers & campaign staff. Authorized members of the campaign team may access contact and volunteer records.
- Legal compliance. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Campaign or others.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from email using the link at the bottom of any campaign email, or email [email protected].
- Opt out of text messages by replying STOP to any text from the Campaign.
- Manage cookies through your browser settings, or via the cookie banner if one appears.
- Limit ad tracking by following Meta’s ad-settings instructions and Google Analytics opt-out.
- Request access or deletion of personal information we hold about you by emailing the address above. Note: contribution records that are public campaign-finance filings cannot be deleted.
Children’s privacy
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
